Connection: 49-Day Training

Many of us feel a lack of genuine connection in our busy, modern world – full of exchanges driven by self-interests and desired efficiency. Let's commit to sit together over 49 days and explore how we shift our focus towards “relationship over transaction” and "practice (or process) over reaching a goal.”

During the 49-day practice, we invite you to commit to daily zazen (Zen meditation) and another practice or relationship you’d like to consistently work with, including with a person, community, or process (e.g., writing). We’ll help deepen and reinforce your practice with 6 discussion sessions around the theme of relationship and practice with Chosei Zen teachers. At the end of the 7 weeks, you’ll come away with a sense of how cutting the loop of self-centered thinking frees us up to live more authentically, joyfully, and creatively in the world.

When is it?  January 28 - March 16, 2024

Who’s it for?

This training is for existing students of Chosei Zen and the Institute for Zen Leadership, new students, and experienced meditation practitioners who are open to learning more about our style of Zen training and willing to make a commitment to recharging their practice during this period.

What’s Involved?

  • Make a commitment to daily zazen (sitting meditation), at least 30 minutes/day, ideally joining us in the Chosei Zen Virtual Dojo.

  • Additionally, commit to any practice you’d like to engage in regularly (e.g., 30 minutes per day, or twice per week) or a relationship with a person, community, or process.

  • Attend weekly discussions led by one of our Zen teachers to further inspire or refine your practice. Talks will be recorded and available to registered participants who can’t make the original time.

  • You can also join optional classes (intro to zazen, hara development, sound) and intensive trainings.

Events through Chosei Zen are donation-based and open to all regardless of ability to pay. All donations are very much appreciated and help keep our dojos running! You can donate here.
