Join us for a weekend of swordsmanship and Zen training. This intensive training will introduce the practice of the Hojo kata, the sword forms of the Kashima Shinden Jikishinkage-ryu school of swordsmanship. The objective of Hojo is to cut all the habits one has acquired since birth so that one may return to the original self. Through the practice of Hojo, we will explore how martial arts and Zen training inform and deepen one another focusing on the Kiai which emulates the four seasons.
All are welcome. This intensive is appropriate for both beginners and advanced students. In addition to training with wooden swords, students will also practice zazen.
This training is led by Scott Kiel Roshi and organized by the Rhode Island Zen Dojo in collaboration with Zenshinkan Aikido Dojo in MA.
